“Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains” ~Psalm 36:5-6
The Palmist reminds us of the faithfulness and the righteousness of God. God is faithful. He doesn’t make promises He cannot keep. He has the power and the ability to keep His word, no matter what. He is right in all things. Everything about Him is good and pure. There is no one like Him, absolutely no one. When we give our word it is a different story. We might have intended on keeping our promises, but many times we fail. Also we are not always faithful. People have a way of turning loyalties to what best suits their desire. In fact in the business world this followed with “its business”. We also are not always right in everything we do, we fall far short of God’s standard and we sin.
When we put our faith in God we are putting our faith in God’s faithfulness. He will do what He promises to do. When He says, “I will remember their sins no more”, He means it. All the many promises of God we can depend on. We also can count on God to always do what is right. He will never deceive us, or lead us astray. God is dependable when we are not. So to build our lives on something solid, something we can trust, it has to start with God. Everything else is sinking sand!
Lord help us to trust in your faithfulness. Lord help us to trust in your righteousness. Lord help us to build our lives on you and you alone. Today in those moments of doubts reassure us of your presence and guide us. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
